mine

My summers always seem to be crazy. Always slower & crazier than the rest of the year, all at the same time. This one is no exception, for sure, but I'm definitely enjoying myself. Let me just say, I really thankful for the people in my life. I don't mind the drives. Driving soothes me anyways.

I finished my last UCLA class ever last week. It wasn't as dramatic or as relieving as I thought it would be though. But hooray, anyways. Maybe because I'm still in study mode, and will continue to be, until next summer :/ My big optometry test is Sep 5 (one month! oh my.) then I have a few prereqs like human anatomy and physiology to take for optometry school over the next two semesters (semesters? what are those?). And on top of all that I'm working on applications this next month or two and working, working, working. I absolutely love my job.

I'm really blessed. Really, really. So much so that I've had to employ a new life motto -- live simply, love greatly. It's a conviction that's been coming up over and over the past few weeks. Especially with two of my best friends coming back from inner city missions recently. Oh, the unnecessary luxuries I have. We have. You're probably reading this from your own laptop, no? Thought so.

But yes! All my friends are back in town (er, in their respective towns), yayayayaa. It's so very exciting. You know what else is exciting? Bryce Avary is following me on twitter. It's because he remembers meeting me two years ago. I'm pretty sure.

Gorgeous! My first BCF wedding. Basically a c/o 2008 reunion. So fun!
As much as I love ohnine, the class before ours will always hold a special place in my heart.
Twoscoops, twoscoops!

Pause

This is the first week of summer I've had with no work, so I've had a lot of downtime at home. My summers used to always be like this. I didn't even set an alarm for this morning, probably the first time since moving home. Coffee kept me up until 4 last night anyways and I ended up sleeping in until 11. Eleven! So strange. I miss the hustle and bustle of living in Westwood, though I probably can't say the same about the drama. Ah, well. Things should pick up again in August. I can't wait. I'm getting bored.

Random old Diana's. Ah, if only medium format wasn't so costly.

coffee dates

The extent of my summer traveling: coffee shops.
Long Beach: Coffee Bean | Starbucks | Viento y Agua | Portfolio's Cafe
Westwood: Kerckhoff | Boba Loca | Iso Fusion Cafe
Carson: Panera Bread
Corona: It's a Grind

The Breakfast Klub

Nikki
1. The one that started it all by getting kidnapped on her 17th and a half birthday, April 2, 2005.
2. CSULB psychology and philosophy major
3. Dairy Princess
4. My oldest friend ever, since the first grade!

Peter
1. The one who actually hates Denny's deep down, but won't admit it
2. UCLA chemistry major
3. The one who will probably have the most children that we won't know about
4. Buster

Becki
1. The one that breakfast revolves around because she's never in town and officially doesn't live / isn't welcome in town anymore
2. Stanford psychology graduate
3. The one that travels everywhere
4. Probably the most successful thus far, with a full time job & everything

First of all, I love breakfast. Second of all, I love strange people. No matter how much time has passed or how much it feels like I've changed, I know I can always, always depend on this crazy group of kids to stay constant and make me laugh a ridiculous, inappropriate amount -- always at the expense of not being able to sleep in and having pissed off waiters because we've only ordered one or maybe two plates between the four of us. I love you crazies.
