Finally! I took my optometry admissions test this morning. SO pwned it. :] I'm overwhelmed by how much love and support I have in my life. I received just about a million text messages wishing me the best starting last night until just before my exam. And before I left this morning, my parents sat me down and my dad prayed over me. Ehehe. I got my score immediately after -- not bad. Just a little bummed there were a bunch of biology questions on things we never covered in the Kaplan prep course I took. Oh wells. It's just crazy... having studied all freaking summer and then finally being done with it. I don't really know what to do with myself. I felt more relieved to be done than I ever have after studying for finals at UCLA. AHHH. Playtime :D I can finally enjoy my summer. Haha, even though Fall semester already started at city college, I guess I'm still on the quarter system. Summer doesn't end until the end of September! My summer has been wonderful, regardless of all the studying. I am loved. Very, very loved.

Also, you should watch Ponyo. And make plans to hang out with me. I have a hitlist, btw. I'M COMING FOR YOU.

Pascal Death Song

Lyrics by Eric An, as presented during senior seminar at summer con ohnine:
suspended, spinning -- a grain of wheat falling to the ground.
i am but a single grain. i don't want to die yet.
but you said to gain my life, i must lose it.
so take this grain of mine and let it yield a great harvest.

looking back, i just see regrets of not living wholly for you.
i must move on, but i feel like this journey will be a restless one.
help me to know that you who have given me life can still take me deeper.
help me to let go of the god of last season to embrace the one who walks with me now.

i don't want to move. i don't want to fall. i don't want to let go.
release these clutched fingers of mine and pull me into this new life.

.....

peace, be still. and the waves ceased.
peace, be still. and there was a great calm.
peace, be still, and the waves cease.
peace, be still. and there was a great calm.

i am with you and my spirit remains.
do not fear. do not fear.
i will grant peace in the place you will stay.
do not fear. do not fear.

do not fear.

"What defines a best friend? What are the requirements to be a good best friend? How many hours a week does it entail? Stupid questions that have no answers. A best friend is not defined by how many times they talk on the phone, or how many hours they hang out together. It is not defined by how many sleepovers they gossip at, or how many inside jokes they have. There are no requirements or laws that state that a good best friend must hang out with them every weekend, or tell each other every little detail. A best friend is a matter of opinion. It is the person who has been there for you through everything, not just through the fun things, or the little things. It is the person that you call when you are at your absolute worst, it is the person who saves you when you didn’t even notice that you needed saving, mostly it is the person who accepts you for who you are, and the person that you are becoming."

No playing until lunchtime, September 5. I mean it.

My summers always seem to be crazy. Always slower & crazier than the rest of the year, all at the same time. This one is no exception, for sure, but I'm definitely enjoying myself. Let me just say, I really thankful for the people in my life. I don't mind the drives. Driving soothes me anyways.

I finished my last UCLA class ever last week. It wasn't as dramatic or as relieving as I thought it would be though. But hooray, anyways. Maybe because I'm still in study mode, and will continue to be, until next summer :/ My big optometry test is Sep 5 (one month! oh my.) then I have a few prereqs like human anatomy and physiology to take for optometry school over the next two semesters (semesters? what are those?). And on top of all that I'm working on applications this next month or two and working, working, working. I absolutely love my job.

I'm really blessed. Really, really. So much so that I've had to employ a new life motto -- live simply, love greatly. It's a conviction that's been coming up over and over the past few weeks. Especially with two of my best friends coming back from inner city missions recently. Oh, the unnecessary luxuries I have. We have. You're probably reading this from your own laptop, no? Thought so.

But yes! All my friends are back in town (er, in their respective towns), yayayayaa. It's so very exciting. You know what else is exciting? Bryce Avary is following me on twitter. It's because he remembers meeting me two years ago. I'm pretty sure.
